Postdoctoral Researcher in AI & Computational Cancer Biology
Join a national flagship initiative at Oxford applying AI and supercomputing to advance personalised cancer vaccines.
Best for:Best for computational biologists and machine learning researchers with expertise in genomics and AI agent systems.
Overview
The University of Oxford is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher in AI Scientist and Computational Cancer Biology within the Nuffield Department of Medicine. Working on a major national initiative funded by the Advanced Research & Innovation Agency (ARIA), the project combines sovereign AI supercomputing, automated laboratories, and immunology to design personalised cancer vaccines. The successful candidate will lead a discrete area of computational research, leveraging frontier AI models and genomic data to enhance target discovery. This full-time fixed-term role offers an opportunity to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and clinicians.
What you'll do
- Take responsibility for a discrete area of computational research within the UK Cancer Vaccine AI Scientist & Supercomputing Project.
- Develop and apply artificial intelligence and computational biology approaches to large-scale cancer datasets.
- Utilize frontier and open-source AI models alongside agentic scientific systems to improve target discovery and prediction.
- Integrate genomic, immunological, and experimental data to support the development of personalised cancer vaccines.
- Collaborate closely with AI researchers, cancer biologists, immunologists, and autonomous laboratory scientists.
- Provide guidance and support to junior members of the research group.
Requirements
Degree required: PhD/DPhil (or close to completion) in artificial intelligence, computational biology, bioinformatics, cancer biology, genomics, or a closely related discipline
