PhD in Mobile Optical Telecommunications & Signal Processing
Design advanced signal processing algorithms and Silicon-based Optical Phased Arrays for robust mobile free-space optical links.
Best for:Best for engineering graduates with a strong background in signal processing, optics, or numerical simulation seeking a structured doctoral research project.
Overview
This PhD position at Université Paris-Saclay, hosted within the LETI Systems Department, focuses on free-space optical communications (FSO) in dynamic environments. The researcher will investigate Silicon-based Optical Phased Arrays and develop advanced algorithmic signal processing and compensation techniques to counteract atmospheric turbulence. Responsibilities include building a dedicated simulation framework to validate architectural choices and algorithms prior to experimental testing. The overarching objective is to enable uninterrupted, high-performance mobile optical communication across aerospace, space, and terrestrial applications.
What you'll do
- Design high-performance and robust mobile optical communication architectures adaptable to disturbed environments.
- Develop advanced algorithmic approaches for signal processing and atmospheric distortion compensation.
- Build a dedicated simulation environment to evaluate and validate architectural and algorithmic strategies.
- Prepare and conduct practical experiments to test integrated optical link performance.
- Contribute to research dissemination through scientific publications and project reports.
