Predoctoral Researcher in Nanoscale Bioelectrical Characterization
Join a research group at IBEC to develop AI-enhanced scanning probe microscopy for medical histology applications.
Best for:Best for candidates with a background in engineering or physics interested in applying AI and microscopy to biomedical research.
Overview
The Nanoscale Bioelectrical Characterization group at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) is seeking a motivated predoctoral researcher. The successful candidate will work on the SMARTSPMHISTO project, focusing on applying AI-enhanced scanning probe microscopy to medical histology. The role involves training in advanced Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and collaborating on the development of a smart multiparametric system. The researcher will perform high-throughput nanomechanical and nanoelectrical studies on histopathological samples related to Parkinson’s disease and Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy. This position offers a stimulating, interdisciplinary environment with comprehensive training and support.
What you'll do
- Undergo advanced training in Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and Force Spectroscopy for tissue characterization.
- Develop and implement protocols for tissue sectioning and preparation for AFM inspection.
- Conduct sequential structural, mechanical, and electrical AFM characterizations of tissue samples.
- Collaborate with the research team to develop and refine a smart multiparametric AFM system for histology.
- Perform high-throughput nanomechanical and nanoelectrical studies on histopathological preparations.
- Provide feedback and suggestions as an end-user during the implementation of new microscopy systems.
