Assistant Scientist - AI-Enabled Immune Digital Twin Workflows
Build reproducible, data-assimilating immune digital twin workflows and forecasting pipelines at Indiana University Bloomington.
Best for:Best for computational scientists and software engineers with a background in mechanistic modeling and data assimilation.
Overview
Indiana University Bloomington invites applications for an Assistant Scientist position within the Intelligent Systems Engineering department. Working under the direction of Dr. James A. Glazier, the successful candidate will focus on building reproducible, testable, and sequential data-assimilating digital twin workflows. Responsibilities include implementing patient-specific forecasting and rebasing pipelines, designing anomaly-detection logic, and integrating workflows with national consortium platforms. Candidates are expected to bring a strong background in mechanistic modeling, software engineering, and computational biomedical sciences.
What you'll do
- Develop Python workflows for short-horizon forecasting and patient-specific rebasing
- Implement data-assimilation methods including Kalman and Bayesian updating techniques
- Design anomaly detection and missing-information inference logic for biological systems
- Build reproducible computational packages incorporating CI/CD, containerization, and testing
- Manage complex model ensemble interfaces and coordinate infrastructure with consortium collaborators
- Integrate research workflows with external consortium platforms such as Vivarium and QSP
- Write and contribute to technical publications detailing the research outcomes
