PhD in Supramolecular Interactions in Organic Mixed Ionic-Electronic Conductors
Investigate intermolecular interactions and supramolecular morphology in OMIECs during operation through advanced operando characterization.
Best for:Best for chemistry, physics, or materials science graduates with strong experimental backgrounds and an interest in functional materials.
Overview
Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) offers a fully funded PhD position within the Optoelectronic Mixed Conductors group at the Department of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry. The successful candidate will study organic mixed ionic-electronic conductors (OMIECs) by developing operando spectroelectrochemistry setups and characterization methods. The research aims to establish a mechanistic framework describing the interplay between doping and supramolecular interactions for future technologies like neuromorphic computing. The candidate is expected to perform hands-on experimental research, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to student supervision.
What you'll do
- Develop novel operando characterization methods and experimental setups to analyze intermolecular interactions in operating OMIECs.
- Perform spectroelectrochemistry experiments to track dynamic spectral signatures of molecular packing during electrochemical doping.
- Examine how supramolecular packing dictates doping efficiency and dynamics across a variety of building blocks.
- Formulate a mechanistic framework detailing the bidirectional relationship between material doping and supramolecular organization.
- Collaborate with researchers to design switchable supramolecular OMIEC systems for in-material computing applications.
- Contribute to teaching activities and the supervision of students within the department.
