Doctoral Student Position in Leukotrienes and Extracellular Vesicles in Cancer
Investigate the role of extracellular vesicles and leukotriene-forming enzymes in cancer immunology at Karolinska Institutet.
Best for:Best for aspiring researchers with a Master's degree in immunology or medicine, eager to investigate cancer extracellular vesicles and cellular immunology.
Overview
Karolinska Institutet invites applications for a fully-funded doctoral position within the Department of Medicine, Division of Immunology and Respiratory Medicine. Working under the guidance of Professor Susanne Gabrielsson and co-supervisors, the doctoral student will explore how extracellular vesicles from cancer patients stimulate or regulate immune responses. The project combines in vitro and in vivo model systems, utilizing biochemical techniques and advanced molecular immunology methods to analyze clinical samples and animal models. The successful candidate will pursue a four-year structured PhD program involving individual research, coursework, and international collaboration.
What you'll do
- Conduct independent research on clinical material from cancer patients to evaluate immune stimulation and regulation by extracellular vesicles.
- Investigate the specific role of leukotriene-forming enzymes within cellular communication pathways.
- Develop and apply advanced extracellular vesicle detection tools to establish novel cancer biomarkers.
- Perform experiments using in vitro and in vivo model systems, including handling of animal models.
- Apply biochemical, cellular, and molecular immunological techniques to cell lines, primary cells, and patient samples.
- Participate in elective PhD courses, seminars, and collaborative academic activities.
