Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Battery Materials and Interfaces
Join the FLOWCAT project to advance continuous flow synthesis of lithium-rich battery cathodes.
Best for:Best for researchers with a background in battery materials, co-precipitation synthesis, and electrochemical testing.
Overview
The University of Birmingham is seeking a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow to join the Energy Materials Group within the School of Metallurgy and Materials. This role is part of the EPSRC-funded FLOWCAT project, which focuses on developing continuous flow processes for the synthesis of lithium-rich cathode precursors. The successful candidate will be responsible for synthesizing and characterizing materials, as well as assembling and testing battery cells. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge energy storage research while collaborating with an established academic team.
What you'll do
- Execute research objectives for the FLOWCAT project.
- Synthesize and characterize cathode precursors using continuous flow co-precipitation.
- Manufacture electrodes and assemble battery cells for electrochemical performance testing.
- Analyze and interpret experimental data for presentation in regular research meetings.
- Contribute to the drafting and publication of research findings in academic journals.
- Provide guidance and supervision to PhD students and other junior researchers.
Requirements
Degree required: PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related field.
