PhD Position in Cardiac Optogenetics
Explore cardiac electrophysiology using optogenetics and photopharmacology to develop novel arrhythmia treatments.
Best for:Best for master's graduates in life sciences or related fields with a strong interest in cardiac electrophysiology and molecular biology.
Overview
The Institute for Cardiovascular Physiology at the University Medical Center Göttingen invites applications for a PhD student position focused on cardiac electrophysiology. The successful candidate will investigate cardiac arrhythmia mechanisms through optogenetics, photopharmacology, and innovative channelrhodopsins or optoGPCRs. Depending on project alignment, the researcher may contribute to the FOR5807 consortium or the RTG2824 research training group. Applicants are expected to hold a relevant master's degree and demonstrate a strong motivation for cardiovascular research.
What you'll do
- Investigate cardiac electrophysiology mechanisms using advanced optogenetic and photopharmacological techniques.
- Explore novel channelrhodopsins and optoGPCRs developed internally and through external collaborations.
- Test new photopharmacological approaches aimed at terminating cardiac arrhythmias.
- Participate in collaborative research activities within the FOR5807 consortium and RTG2824 program.
- Analyze experimental data, prepare scientific reports, and present findings at internal and external meetings.
