PhD Position in Molecular Neuroscience and Glioblastoma Therapies
Join an MSCA Doctoral Network to develop viral delivery systems and image-guided therapies for glioblastoma at the Technion.
Best for:Best for master's graduates in neuroscience or biomedical engineering with a strong background in molecular biology and viral vector design.
Overview
The Berlin Laboratory at the Technion Institute of Technology invites applications for a fully funded PhD position focusing on brain-targeted therapies for glioblastoma. The successful candidate will engineer and validate viral vector delivery systems across the blood-brain barrier, track therapeutic efficacy using multimodal imaging, and explore cell proliferation mechanisms using optogenetic and chemogenetic approaches. As part of the INTRABRAIN Doctoral Network, the researcher will participate in structured international training, including three mandatory laboratory secondments at partner institutions across Europe. Candidates are expected to conduct rigorous translational research, collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, and contribute actively to network workshops and deliverables.
What you'll do
- Design, engineer, and validate imaging-compatible viral vector systems for brain-targeted delivery.
- Investigate the biodistribution and therapeutic efficacy of viral treatments using in vitro and in vivo models.
- Modulate glioblastoma cell proliferation and neuronal circuit interactions using optogenetic and chemogenetic tools.
- Perform quantitative image and data analysis utilizing programming tools such as Python or MATLAB.
- Participate in three mandatory international laboratory secondments at academic, clinical, or industrial partner institutions.
- Collaborate within an interdisciplinary international network, attending training modules, workshops, and conferences.
