Overview

This PhD position at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) focuses on advancing structure-preserving finite element methods (FEM) for time-dependent partial differential equations (PDEs). The project aims to design solvers that preserve key physical properties—such as energy, mass, and momentum—exactly rather than approximating them. The work spans theoretical development, algorithmic implementation, and high-performance computing (HPC) optimization for large-scale systems. The successful candidate will collaborate within the internationally recognized Numerical Analysis group, contributing to both fundamental research and applied engineering challenges in fluid dynamics and electromagnetics. Teaching duties (≤15% effort) and conference presentations are integral to the role, conducted in English.
