PhD Position in Natural Language Processing and LLMs for Scientific Writing
Improve scientific writing reliability by leveraging large language models to detect revision inconsistencies and guide researchers.
Best for:Best for computer science graduates with a strong background in natural language processing and deep learning.
Overview
This doctoral position at Loria investigates the use of large language models (LLMs) to support and improve scientific writing. The project addresses the growing pressure on peer review and publication integrity by developing mechanisms that help researchers iteratively refine their work while maintaining human control. Funded through the French National Research Agency (ANR) Fabuleux project, the successful candidate will join a leading computer science laboratory in Nancy, France. The role involves designing feedback frameworks, detecting distortion or hallucinations in text revisions, and contributing to robust academic writing practices.
What you'll do
- Design and implement natural language processing algorithms using large language models to assist scientific writing
- Analyze text revisions to detect distortions, hallucinations, and unjustified modifications introduced during editing
- Develop interactive feedback mechanisms that empower researchers to improve their drafts iteratively
- Collaborate with project partners and participate in regular progress meetings in Nantes and Paris
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed international conferences and journals
- Prepare and write a doctoral dissertation thesis within the designated contract period
