Predoctoral Researcher in T-Cell Therapies for Glioblastoma
Develop an innovative in vitro platform to study T-cell therapies against glioblastoma within a multidisciplinary nanobioengineering research group.
Best for:Best for recent MSc graduates in biology, biomedical engineering, or related fields with hands-on experience in microfluidics, cell culture, and microfabrication, seeking a multidisciplinary PhD project at the intersection of bioengineering and oncology.
Overview
This PhD position at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) offers a motivated researcher the opportunity to design and implement an advanced in vitro platform for investigating T-cell therapies targeting glioblastoma. The project, part of the *Glioblastoma Blood-Brain Barrier Integrated Model for T-Cell Therapies (GBBRAIN-T)*, integrates microfluidics, cell culture, and sensor technologies to simulate physiological barriers and evaluate therapeutic efficacy. The successful candidate will collaborate within a dynamic, interdisciplinary team at IBEC, contributing to cutting-edge biomedical research with potential clinical impact. The fellowship is funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities under the *Generación de Conocimiento* programme, ensuring a competitive stipend and comprehensive professional development support.
What you'll do
- Design and fabricate microfluidic devices with integrated electrodes for in vitro experiments.
- Perform cell co-culture experiments to model glioblastoma and T-cell interactions.
- Conduct biomolecular characterization of cell cultures using advanced assays.
- Execute permeability assays to evaluate blood-brain barrier integrity and therapeutic transmigration.
- Analyze and process epifluorescence and confocal microscopy images to assess experimental outcomes.
- Develop and monitor sensors/actuators for real-time data acquisition and processing.
- Assess the efficacy of T-cell therapies in transmigration and functional assays.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to integrate findings into the GBBRAIN-T project.
