PhD Position in Targeted Alpha Therapy for Glioblastoma
Explore innovative radiotherapy strategies for glioblastoma through targeted alpha therapy research in a multidisciplinary EU-funded network.
Best for:Best for early-career researchers with a master’s in biology, biomedical sciences, or related fields, passionate about translational cancer research and innovative radiotherapy approaches.
Overview
This PhD position at Université d'Angers focuses on advancing targeted alpha therapy (TAT) as a novel locoregional treatment for glioblastoma, one of the most aggressive and treatment-resistant brain cancers. The candidate will join the GLIAD team at CRCI2NA, a leading cancer research center, under the supervision of Dr. Emmanuel Garcion. The project combines preclinical modeling, imaging, histology, and single-cell transcriptomics to investigate how molecular targets, delivery vectors, and radionuclides influence therapeutic efficacy and immune response. The successful applicant will benefit from international secondments at partner institutions in Paris and Vienna, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and skill development within the Horizon Europe MSCA-funded INNOVARTBRAIN network.
What you'll do
- Conduct preclinical research to evaluate the efficacy of targeted alpha therapy in glioblastoma models, assessing molecular targets, delivery vectors, and radionuclides.
- Investigate how targeted alpha therapy impacts tumor tissue damage and reshapes local/systemic immune responses using advanced imaging and transcriptomic techniques.
- Collaborate with partner institutions (INEM in Paris, MUW in Vienna) during international secondments to integrate complementary research perspectives.
- Develop and validate experimental protocols for imaging, histology, and single-cell transcriptomics to analyze therapy mechanisms.
- Present research findings at international conferences and contribute to peer-reviewed publications within the INNOVARTBRAIN network.
- Participate in interdisciplinary training activities to enhance scientific, technical, and transferable skills within the doctoral network.
