PhD Position in Polymer-Based Nanoparticle Libraries for Targeted Anti-Inflammatory Strategies
Join a collaborative research center developing innovative nanoparticulate drug carriers for treating inflammatory diseases.
Best for:Best for candidates with a Master's degree in chemistry, pharmacy, or biotechnology interested in nanomedicine and polymer science.
Overview
The Collaborative Research Center (CRC) 1278 PolyTarget at Friedrich Schiller University Jena invites applications for a PhD position focused on the rational design of tailor-made nanoparticulate drug carriers. The research aims to develop novel strategies for treating infection-triggered inflammatory states using functional synthetic and biopolymers. Doctoral candidates will engage in molecular and morphological characterization of nanoparticles to establish structure-property relationships. The position is part of an integrated Research Training Group that provides comprehensive scientific training, mentoring, and opportunities for international research stays.
What you'll do
- Design and synthesize functional synthetic and biopolymer-based nanoparticles.
- Perform detailed molecular and morphological characterization of nanoparticle libraries.
- Investigate structure-property relationships to optimize pharmaceutical and biological function.
- Participate in method courses, scientific colloquia, and PhD seminars organized by the CRC.
- Engage in interdisciplinary collaboration with partner institutes and clinical departments.
- Contribute to the research training group activities and CRC retreats.
