Assistant Scientist – Department of Physiology and Biophysics
Join a multidisciplinary neuroscience lab at the University of Miami to study neural circuits and neuromodulation.
Best for:Best for neuroscientists with expertise in patch-clamp electrophysiology and an interest in neural circuit function.
Overview
The Department of Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated Assistant Scientist to join the laboratory of Dr. Kirill Martemyanov. The successful candidate will contribute to research on neural circuits involved in motivated and maladaptive behaviors, utilizing techniques such as patch-clamp electrophysiology, optogenetics, and live-cell imaging. The role offers a collaborative environment with access to advanced technologies and opportunities for independent research development, grant writing, and scientific publication. While the position is primarily aimed at experienced researchers with a postdoctoral background, highly qualified recent graduates are also encouraged to apply.
What you'll do
- Conduct patch-clamp electrophysiology experiments to study neural circuit function.
- Integrate electrophysiological data with optophysiology and behavioral approaches.
- Perform behavioral characterization of genetic mouse models.
- Develop and execute independent research projects within the lab's scope.
- Contribute to grant writing and the preparation of scientific publications.
- Collaborate with team members on small-molecule drug discovery and molecular approaches.
