PhD Position in Plant Cell Biology: Role of Actin Cytoskeleton in Cell Division Orientation
Explore the mechanistic role of actin cytoskeleton in plant cell division orientation using Arabidopsis thaliana as a model organism.
Best for:Best for candidates with a strong background in plant molecular biology, genetics, and microscopy, seeking to explore cellular mechanisms in plant development.
Overview
This PhD position is based at the Reproduction and Plant Development Laboratory (RPD, CNRS UMR 5667) in Lyon, France. The successful candidate will investigate how the actin cytoskeleton influences the orientation of cell division in plants. The project combines molecular genetics, high-resolution microscopy, recombinant protein expression, and plant phenotyping. The PhD student will work within the SICE team ('Cellular Signaling and Endomembrane'), collaborating closely with postdoctoral researchers and engineers to advance understanding of plant cell biology. The position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to fundamental research in plant developmental biology.
What you'll do
- Conceive and execute experiments in molecular genetics using Arabidopsis thaliana as a model organism.
- Perform high-resolution microscopy to study actin cytoskeleton dynamics during cell division.
- Express and analyze recombinant proteins to elucidate their roles in cell division orientation.
- Phenotype plant mutants to understand the functional consequences of actin cytoskeleton alterations.
- Collaborate with postdoctoral researchers and engineers to integrate findings into broader research projects.
- Present research findings at internal and external scientific meetings.
- Contribute to the publication of research results in peer-reviewed journals.
