Postdoctoral Research Associate in Synthetic Boron-Based Methodologies
Join the Aggarwal Lab at the University of Bristol to develop novel synthetic methodologies using boron chemistry.
Best for:Best for synthetic organic chemists with strong practical laboratory skills and experience in modern spectroscopic techniques.
Overview
The School of Chemistry at the University of Bristol invites applications for three Postdoctoral Research Associate positions within the Aggarwal Lab. The appointees will focus on designing and synthesizing complex molecules and developing new synthetic methodologies using boron chemistry and lithiation-borylation. Working on multiple projects simultaneously, researchers will employ their synthetic expertise to advance complex carbon-chain building and bond-formation. Candidates will also have opportunities to mentor junior students and develop comprehensive academic or industrial career skills. Successful applicants will report to Professor Varinder Aggarwal and Professor Crump.
What you'll do
- Design and synthesize complex molecules utilizing novel boron chemistry and lithiation-borylation techniques.
- Plan and execute safe experimental work in organic synthesis with minimal supervision.
- Carry out, interpret, and record results from modern spectroscopic techniques including NMR.
- Contribute to multiple research projects simultaneously while meeting strict project deadlines.
- Assist in the training and supervision of PhD and final-year undergraduate project students.
- Prepare written technical reports and present experimental findings clearly to supervisors and team members.
