Post-Doctoral Fellow
Full‑time postdoctoral fellowship in urogynecology focusing on urinary tract infection research.
Best for:Ideal for recent PhDs with strong microbiology, molecular biology, and animal‑model experience seeking translational research in urogynecology.
Overview
The Division of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is hiring a postdoctoral fellow. The fellow will conduct basic and translational experiments to uncover how hormones, the immune system, and bacterial physiology drive lower urinary tract disease. Work will involve extensive microbiology, polymer‑drug delivery, cell‑culture, and mouse‑model techniques while collaborating with multiple interdisciplinary labs. The position also includes teaching responsibilities and routine laboratory management duties.
What you'll do
- Perform microbiological assays such as serial dilutions, Gram staining, agar plating, and microscopy.
- Develop, document, and execute standard operating procedures for laboratory workflows and reagent ordering.
- Load nanoparticles with therapeutic agents, quantify drug‑release kinetics, and characterize polymer composites mechanically.
- Conduct molecular biology techniques including PCR, real‑time PCR, Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence.
- Maintain cell‑culture systems, isolate RNA/DNA/protein from tissues, and quantify colonies.
- Handle mice, perform survival surgeries, and ensure aseptic technique throughout animal work.
- Teach and supervise undergraduate or graduate students and research assistants.
- Assist with administrative tasks and other duties as assigned by the division.
