Research Associate in 3D Printing of Biocatalytic Flow Reactors
Develop advanced 3D printed biocatalytic flow reactors as part of an EPSRC manufacturing grant.
Best for:Best for researchers with a PhD in biocatalysis or chemical engineering and hands-on experience in enzyme immobilization and 3D printing.
Overview
The University of Nottingham invites applications for a Research Associate or Fellow position within the Faculty of Engineering to work on 3D printed biocatalytic flow reactors. Funded by an EPSRC Programme Grant, the project aims to integrate enzyme catalysis with additive manufacturing and polymer chemistry. The successful candidate will immobilize industrially relevant enzymes within hydrogel networks, fabricate 3D printed structures, and optimize reactor performance. The role also involves maintaining safe laboratory practices, training team members, and contributing to academic publications and conferences.
What you'll do
- Immobilize a range of industrially relevant enzymes within printable hydrogel materials.
- Generate 3D printed structures and optimize the performance of resulting biocatalytic flow reactors.
- Coordinate with team members focused on reactor design optimization to select and print suitable geometries.
- Maintain safe laboratory practices and contribute to the day-to-day training and supervision of lab members.
- Draft manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications and present research findings at national and international conferences.
- Liaise with multidisciplinary collaborators across enzyme catalysis, additive manufacturing, and polymer chemistry.
