Overview

This 4-year PhD position at ETH Zurich’s Atmospheric Chemistry group focuses on improving global models of tropospheric oxidized nitrogen (NOx) cycling. The project will enhance representation of chemical transformations in large-scale models like GEOS-Chem and CESM, validate simulations against airborne, surface, and satellite observations, and assess historical changes in NOx impacts. The successful candidate will develop expertise in atmospheric chemistry, global modeling, and data analysis while contributing to scientific communication and mentoring undergraduate and master’s students. The research aligns with global air quality and climate goals, addressing critical gaps in atmospheric science.
