Postdoctoral Position in Cancer Metabolism and Molecular Imaging
Join a multidisciplinary team at the University of Pennsylvania investigating cancer metabolism using preclinical imaging and metabolomics.
Best for:Best for postdoctoral researchers with a background in cancer biology, biomedical engineering, or chemistry interested in preclinical imaging and metabolomics.
Overview
The University of Pennsylvania's School of Medicine is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to join the Penn Image-Guided Interventions Laboratory within the Departments of Radiology and Cancer Biology. Working closely with Dr. David Tischfield and Dr. Terence Gade, the fellow will investigate cancer metabolism and the tumor microenvironment through preclinical hyperpolarized MRI, PET, and mass spectrometry-based metabolomics. The appointee will transition from completing ongoing studies to taking full ownership of independent projects aimed at first-author publications. Candidates should possess a strong doctoral background in cancer biology, chemistry, physics, or related fields, alongside a willingness to engage in preclinical research.
What you'll do
- Conduct preclinical hyperpolarized MRI and PET studies to analyze tumor metabolism and treatment response.
- Perform metabolomics and stable isotope tracing experiments.
- Execute mechanistic studies utilizing mouse models, mammalian cell culture, and molecular assays.
- Integrate imaging data, mass spectrometry results, and biological findings.
- Maintain meticulous and rigorous experimental records.
- Communicate research findings through peer-reviewed manuscripts and scientific presentations.
