Research Assistant/Associate in High-Performance Bioinks for 3D Bioprinting
Develop innovative bioinks for advanced 3D bioprinting applications under EPSRC funding.
Best for:Best for researchers with a PhD in materials science, chemistry, or bioprinting, seeking hands-on experimental work in biomaterials and synthetic polymer chemistry.
Overview
This position offers a Research Assistant or Associate role at Newcastle University’s School of Natural and Environmental Sciences. The project focuses on creating high-performance bioinks based on Caf1 protein polymers for 3D extrusion bioprinting, aiming to replicate natural extracellular matrices. The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research in biomaterials and synthetic polymer chemistry, working under the supervision of Prof. David Fulton. The role is part of an EPSRC-funded initiative and involves hands-on experimental work, problem-solving, and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team. Applicants should have a PhD or equivalent in materials science, chemistry, or a related field, with experience in polymer chemistry and circular dichroism spectroscopy.
What you'll do
- Develop and optimize new bioinks based on Caf1 protein polymers for 3D extrusion bioprinting applications.
- Conduct experimental work to assess printability and biomimicry of bioinks, including circular dichroism spectroscopy.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to advance the project goals under EPSRC funding.
- Contribute to the publication of research findings in high-impact journals.
- Maintain detailed records of experimental procedures and results for project documentation.
