Master of Science in Physics
A research‑oriented two‑year MSc in Physics taught in English at Leibniz University Hannover.
Best for:Students with a BSc in Physics who want solid research training and the option to work in quantum optics, solid‑state, or gravitational physics.
Overview
The MSc Physics program at Leibniz University Hannover combines a one‑year specialization phase with a second year dedicated to an independent research project. Students receive advanced coursework in solid‑state physics, quantum optics, and gravitational physics while also having the option to take electives from other scientific fields. The programme culminates in a six‑month master’s thesis carried out in one of the university’s experimental or theoretical groups, often in collaboration with external research centres. Throughout the study, students develop both theoretical knowledge and practical laboratory skills, preparing them for PhD studies or industry positions. English is the primary language of instruction, but German language courses are also offered.
