Doctoral Student in Molecular Metabolism and Precision Nutrition
Investigate daily dietary patterns and 24-hour glucose fluctuations using multimodal data and machine learning.
Best for:Best for life science graduates with a Master's degree, strong molecular analysis skills, and an interest in nutrition and machine learning.
Overview
The German Institute of Human Nutrition Potsdam-Rehbruecke (DIfE) invites applications for a doctoral student position within the Department of Molecular Metabolism and Precision Nutrition. The successful candidate will contribute to a human clinical study focusing on metabolic phenotyping in participants with and without type 2 diabetes. Responsibilities include study coordination, biochemical and molecular analyses of biosamples, and processing digital nutrition and activity data. The project involves applying machine learning algorithms to multimodal study data to predict metabolic responses to diet.
What you'll do
- Assist with study coordination, participant examinations, and the collection and processing of blood and adipose tissue samples.
- Analyze participant dietary protocols, questionnaires, and lifestyle logs.
- Perform biochemical and molecular laboratory analyses on collected biological samples.
- Process and evaluate digital 24-hour continuous glucose monitoring, nutrition, and activity data.
- Apply machine learning algorithms to model and analyze multimodal study datasets.
- Prepare manuscripts for scientific publication and present findings at conferences and colloquia.
