Overview

This doctoral position focuses on formulating inverse problems to determine stochastic noise covariances in fluid dynamics models under location uncertainty, specifically targeting deep ocean convection. Hosted by the Inria Odyssey team in Rennes and collaborating with multiple academic and research institutions under the ANR NOUILLES project, the candidate will combine theoretical developments, physical modeling, and numerical implementations. The successful applicant is expected to analyze high-resolution reference simulations and scale up robust stochastic parameterization techniques. The position offers a stimulating multidisciplinary research environment bridging applied mathematics and oceanography.
