Overview

This postdoctoral position at the University of Bath’s Department of Mechanical Engineering focuses on investigating fluid dynamics and heat transfer in rotating compressor cavities of gas turbine engines. Funded by the EPSRC in collaboration with industry leaders Rolls-Royce and Siemens Energy, the project aims to advance understanding of buoyancy-induced rotating flows and boundary-layer transitions for low-technology-readiness-level (TRL) applications. The successful candidate will lead experimental research using cutting-edge instrumentation, complementing computational simulations at the University of Surrey. The role offers autonomy, mentorship, and opportunities to collaborate with both academic and industrial partners, contributing directly to sustainable aerospace and energy technologies.
