Overview

This PhD project focuses on the development of ultrasmall, intravenously deliverable hafnium oxide nanoparticles designed to enhance radiotherapy for high-risk neuroblastoma. By improving the targeting and circulation of these radioenhancers, the research aims to increase local tumor damage while minimizing toxicity to healthy tissues. The successful candidate will work at the intersection of nanochemistry and translational cancer research, utilizing neuroblastoma organoids and 3D models for preclinical evaluation. The position is hosted by the University of Basel and provides membership in the Swiss Nanoscience Institute (SNI) PhD school. Applicants are expected to contribute to a next-generation strategy for making radiotherapy more effective and accessible for pediatric patients.
