PhD Position: Studying Neural Circuits for Flexible Memory Formation in Drosophila
Explore the neural mechanisms of flexible memory in Drosophila larvae using genetic, behavioral, and two-photon imaging techniques.
Best for:Best for neuroscientists with hands-on experience in Drosophila genetics, calcium imaging, and behavioral neuroscience, interested in computational and systems-level approaches to memory and learning.
Overview
This PhD position at the Institut des Neurosciences Paris-Saclay focuses on investigating the neural circuits underlying flexible memory formation in *Drosophila melanogaster* larvae. The project combines behavioral experiments, genetic manipulation, and advanced in vivo calcium imaging to dissect how recurrent neural circuits contribute to associative learning and memory. The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team studying reinforcement learning principles at the neurobiological level, leveraging cutting-edge tools like two-photon microscopy and connectome data. The position is ideal for neuroscientists with hands-on experience in Drosophila and imaging techniques, seeking to advance fundamental understanding of neural plasticity and decision-making.
