PhD Position in Cancer Chromatin Biology
Explore innovative therapeutic potential of microproteins in advanced prostate cancer through chromatin and structural biology research.
Best for:Best for candidates with a strong background in molecular biology, biochemistry, or structural biology, interested in cancer research and chromatin dynamics.
Overview
This three-year PhD position at the University of Oslo focuses on cancer chromatin and structural biology, led by Prof. Philippe Collas and Dr. Marie Rogne. The successful candidate will investigate how specific microproteins regulate the transcription factor SOX2 in advanced prostate cancer, using cell-based assays, epigenomic techniques, and crystallographic approaches. The project involves collaboration with the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and is funded by the Norwegian Research Council. The position is based in the vibrant Division of Biochemistry at the Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, offering a dynamic environment with diverse research groups working on cancer biology, chromatin dynamics, and related fields.
What you'll do
- Conduct research on how specific microproteins regulate the transcription factor SOX2 in advanced prostate cancer using cell-based assays and epigenomic techniques.
- Resolve the SOX2 microprotein complex using crystallographic approaches.
- Collaborate with researchers at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) to integrate findings across institutions.
- Publish research findings in high-impact scientific journals and present results at national and international conferences.
- Participate in the academic and research community within the Division of Biochemistry at the University of Oslo.
- Develop and execute experimental protocols to investigate chromatin dynamics and microprotein function.
