Research Associate in Inorganic Catalysts for CO₂ Conversion
Join a dynamic research team to develop and scale copper-based catalysts for converting CO₂ into light hydrocarbons.
Best for:Best for researchers with a PhD in chemistry, chemical engineering, or materials science, specialising in catalyst synthesis, characterisation, and testing, seeking to contribute to sustainable energy solutions.
Overview
This fixed-term research associate position at the University of Surrey focuses on advancing inorganic catalysts for transforming CO₂ into valuable light hydrocarbons. Based in the Energy and Materials group within the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, the role involves synthesis, characterisation, and catalytic testing of exsolved copper-based catalysts. The project is funded by HEIF and Innovate Surrey, with a strong emphasis on upscaling solutions for sustainable energy production. The successful candidate will contribute to critical analyses, life cycle assessments, and the generation of high-impact research outputs, including intellectual property and peer-reviewed publications. This opportunity is ideal for researchers with a PhD in chemistry, chemical engineering, or materials science and hands-on experience in catalyst synthesis and testing.
