PhD Position in Multi-Modal Models of Human Brain Development
Join a computational neuroscience team at Forschungszentrum Jülich to model human brain development using multi-modal imaging and machine learning.
Best for:Best for master's graduates in neuroscience or related fields with strong Python or MATLAB skills and a background in neuroimaging.
Overview
Forschungszentrum Jülich invites applications for a PhD student fellow within the Multiscale Neurodevelopment team at the Institute of Neuroscience and Medicine (INM-7). The successful candidate will investigate cortical architecture maturation and functional dynamics across early life using multiscale frameworks and computational modelling. Responsibilities include building growth models of neurodevelopment, optimizing algorithms to predict clinical phenotypes, and processing diverse neuroimaging modalities. The position provides a three-year fixed-term fellowship in an interdisciplinary, international research environment.
What you'll do
- Develop growth models of human neurodevelopment utilizing supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques.
- Optimize learning models to predict cognitive maturation and clinical phenotypes from brain development data.
- Analyze diverse neuroimaging modalities including structural, diffusion-weighted, and functional MRI, alongside intracranial EEG.
- Design and implement specialized MRI analysis toolboxes.
- Produce high-quality scientific articles efficiently for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
- Collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team comprising neuroscientists, computer scientists, and clinicians.
