Best for:Best for graduate researchers with a background in immunology, oncology, or molecular biology interested in host-pathogen interactions.
Overview
This PhD position investigates the specific role of macrophages within the lung cancer-infection niche, operating under the EU-funded MSCA training programme MERIT (Metabolic Reprogramming in viral pathogenesis: from Infection to Therapeutic innovations). The research focuses on understanding how viral pathogenesis impacts human health, specifically examining immune and metabolic mechanisms. The successful candidate will conduct independent research, collaborate with international consortium partners, and contribute to scientific publications and project deliverables. Applicants are expected to hold a relevant master's degree and demonstrate strong motivation for multidisciplinary biomedical research.
What you'll do
- Conduct experimental research focusing on the role of macrophages in the lung cancer-infection niche
- Analyze and interpret cellular and molecular biology data generated from models of viral pathogenesis
- Collaborate with international researchers within the EU-funded MERIT MSCA training network
- Prepare research findings for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals and presentation at conferences
- Participate in network-wide training events, workshops, and secondments organized by the MERIT consortium
