Investigate indoor air pollution and its toxicological health effects within a major multidisciplinary research hub.
Best for:Best for biomedical and toxicology researchers with strong hands-on laboratory experience in particle characterisation and in vivo models.
Overview
The University of Edinburgh invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to examine the characteristics of indoor air pollution and its potential health impacts. Operating within the Centre for Cardiovascular Science and contributing to the multi-disciplinary INHABIT hub, the researcher will lead laboratory-based studies focusing on oxidative potential assays and in vivo models. Responsibilities include experimental design, data analysis, manuscript preparation, and assisting with project management and collaborative networking. The successful candidate will work full-time on-site at the Edinburgh BioQuarter on a fixed-term contract.
What you'll do
- Conduct laboratory-based scientific research investigating indoor air pollution characteristics and health effects
- Perform oxidative potential assays to evaluate the reactivity of air pollution particles
- Utilize in vivo models to assess potential toxicological impacts of pollutant particles
- Contribute to the formulation of new research concepts, methods, and experimental directions
- Manage day-to-day project operations including ordering consumables and coordinating with collaborating laboratories
- Prepare manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication and support grant application developments
Requirements
Degree required: PhD or equivalent in a related biomedical background, such as air pollution, particle research, toxicology, or physiology
Language: English; professional working proficiency
Instruction: English
Publications: Evidence of capability to contribute to manuscript writing and peer-reviewed publications
- Demonstrated research experience in air pollution, particle research, toxicology, or physiology
- Hands-on expertise in laboratory techniques such as particle characterisation or acellular assays of oxidative potential
- Experience utilizing in vivo rodent models for toxicological assessments
