PhD Position in Molecular Mechanisms of Local Translation at the Myotendinous Junction
Explore the molecular mechanisms governing local translation at the myotendinous junction using cutting-edge genetic and biochemical approaches.
Best for:Best for motivated candidates with a master’s in molecular biology, biochemistry, or related fields, with strong skills in mouse genetics, RNA biology, and biochemical assays.
Overview
This PhD position at Inserm’s U1258 unit in Strasbourg, France, focuses on uncovering the molecular mechanisms behind local translation programs at the myotendinous junction (MTJ) of skeletal muscle. The MTJ acts as a mechanical buffer and is prone to injury during exercise, but its translational rewiring post-exercise remains poorly understood. The successful candidate will employ mouse genetics, translatome analysis, and biochemical techniques to dissect RNA-binding proteins and their roles in local translation. The project combines candidate-driven and unbiased approaches, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to translational medicine and muscle biology research.
What you'll do
- Develop and analyze mouse genetic models to study the functional roles of candidate RNA-binding proteins in local translation at the MTJ.
- Investigate the translatome changes upon mutating RNA-binding proteins and identify their binding partners using unbiased approaches.
- Perform biochemical pull-down assays to identify candidate factors using affinity-tagged UTRs.
- Present research findings in lab meetings and at international conferences.
- Supervise master’s students and contribute to collaborative research projects within the lab.
