Doctoral student in Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics
Explore theoretical condensed matter physics and quantum many-body systems as a doctoral researcher at KTH Royal Institute of Technology.
Best for:Best for physics graduates with a strong background in analytical or numerical condensed matter methods and quantum mechanics.
Overview
The KTH Royal Institute of Technology invites applications for a doctoral student position in theoretical condensed matter physics within the Department of Physics, supervised by Professor Egor Babaev. The research group investigates analytical and numerical methods including effective field theory, topological systems, and quantum many-body techniques. The successful candidate will engage in cutting-edge research on topics such as composite order, topological defects, and unconventional phase transitions. Applicants are expected to hold a relevant master's degree or equivalent, demonstrate strong analytical skills, and collaborate with local and international research teams.
What you'll do
- Conduct original research in theoretical condensed matter physics under faculty supervision
- Apply analytical and numerical methods to investigate quantum many-body systems and phase transitions
- Collaborate with internal and international theoretical and experimental research groups
- Contribute up to 20% of time to departmental duties such as teaching and administration
- Prepare research findings for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals and present at conferences
- Pursue coursework as part of the doctoral curriculum leading to a doctoral degree
