PhD Position in Chaotic Sampling for Networked Control Systems
Develop mathematical theory for chaotic sampling mechanisms in secure and sustainable networked control systems.
Best for:Best for candidates with a strong background in systems and control, applied mathematics, or electrical engineering, and a passion for theory-driven research in nonlinear dynamics.
Overview
This PhD position is offered by the Delft Center for Systems and Control at Delft University of Technology under the supervision of Gabriel de Albuquerque Gleizer. The project investigates the design and mathematical analysis of chaotic sampling strategies for networked control systems to improve communication efficiency, security, and closed-loop stability. The candidate will develop rigorous mathematical arguments, theoretical models, and computational algorithms, while also contributing to teaching activities up to 20% of their appointment. Expected outcomes include theoretical results, mathematical proofs, open-source software, and simulation-based validation.
What you'll do
- Develop mathematical theory and computational methods for chaotic sampling mechanisms in networked control systems.
- Study conditions under which event-based sampling exhibits chaotic behavior.
- Design controller and sampler strategies that account for stability, communication rate, and timing unpredictability.
- Investigate the robustness of developed mechanisms against disturbances and external observations.
- Produce theoretical results, mathematical proofs, and open-source computational algorithms.
- Participate in teaching activities such as supervising lab sessions or mentoring students, not exceeding 20% of the appointment.
