PhD Studentship - Sustainable Multi-Sector Electrification Using Advanced Integrated Motor Drive Technologies
Join a leading research group to develop innovative integrated motor drive technologies for sustainable industrial and transport applications.
Best for:Engineering graduates with a strong background in power electronics, electrical machines, or control systems.
Overview
The Power Electronics, Machines and Control (PEMC) Research Group at the University of Nottingham invites applications for a PhD studentship focused on sustainable multi-sector electrification. The research aims to develop fully integrated motor drives that combine power electronic converters and electrical machines to enhance efficiency and reduce material usage. Successful candidates will work within a state-of-the-art £18 million research facility to address challenges in mechanical integration, thermal management, electromagnetic interference, and advanced control systems. This project seeks to contribute to global sustainability goals by improving power-to-weight ratios and reducing manufacturing-related CO2 emissions. Applicants are expected to demonstrate strong analytical skills and a commitment to advancing high-efficiency industrial and transport technologies.
