Marie Curie Doctoral Candidate in Positive Displacement Compressors
Join the Horizon Europe MSCA HeatMinds network to advance industrial heat decarbonisation through innovative compressor technologies.
Best for:Best for master’s graduates in engineering, mechanical engineering, or related fields with a strong interest in sustainable energy technologies and industrial heat recovery systems.
Overview
This PhD position is part of the Horizon Europe MSCA Industrial Doctoral Network HeatMinds, focused on decarbonising industrial heat through high-temperature heat pump technologies. The successful candidate will conduct research on positive displacement compressors, developing models and optimising performance for efficient heat recovery systems. Based at City, St George’s, University of London, the role involves collaboration with academic and industrial partners across Europe, participation in network-wide training, and contributing to project deliverables and publications. The project aims to upgrade low-grade waste heat for industrial applications, addressing critical challenges in sustainable energy solutions.
What you'll do
- Develop and validate advanced models for positive displacement compressors to improve performance and efficiency.
- Conduct experimental and computational analyses to optimise compressor operation under varying conditions.
- Collaborate with academic and industrial partners across Europe to integrate research findings into project deliverables.
- Present research findings at international conferences and contribute to peer-reviewed publications.
- Participate in network-wide training events and workshops to enhance research and professional skills.
- Engage in dissemination and outreach activities to promote the project’s impact on industrial decarbonisation.
- Support the achievement of project milestones and objectives within the MSCA HeatMinds framework.
