PhD Position: Numerical Methods for Two-Phase Flow Simulation with Interface Resolution
Develop innovative numerical methods to improve the accuracy and efficiency of two-phase flow simulations in the TrioCFD software.
Best for:Best for candidates with a strong background in computational fluid dynamics, numerical methods, and scientific programming.
Overview
The Laboratoire Procédés, Matériaux et Energie Solaire (PROMES) is seeking a doctoral candidate to join the ANR REGIME project. This research focuses on advancing numerical simulation techniques for two-phase flows, such as bubbles and droplets, which are critical in industrial and environmental applications. The successful candidate will work on implementing and validating hybrid cut-cell and one-fluid methods within the TrioCFD open-source software. The role involves a comparative study of existing methods, the development of new hybrid approaches, and the application of corrections to mitigate regularization errors. The position is based in Perpignan with regular collaborative visits to the D'Alembert laboratory in Paris.
What you'll do
- Conduct a comparative study of existing numerical methods for two-phase flow simulations.
- Develop and implement hybrid cut-cell and one-fluid numerical methods within the TrioCFD software.
- Validate and evaluate developed methods against academic and industrial test cases.
- Analyze and reduce regularization errors in numerical schemes.
- Collaborate with multi-site research teams, including regular visits to the D'Alembert laboratory.
- Document research findings and contribute to project reports and scientific publications.
