Postdoctoral Fellow in Breast Cancer Research
Join a leading cancer research team to investigate GD3 synthase’s role in breast cancer progression using transgenic and knockout mice models.
Best for:Best for postdoctoral researchers with 0-2 years of experience in cancer biology, molecular biology, and transgenic mouse models seeking to advance breast cancer research.
Overview
This postdoctoral position at Virginia Commonwealth University’s Division of Hematology, Oncology, and Palliative Care offers a unique opportunity to study breast cancer stem cells and mammary tumorigenesis. Under the mentorship of Dr. Venkata Lokesh Battula, the successful candidate will focus on the regulatory role of GD3 synthase in tumor growth using transgenic and GD3S knockout mice. The role involves managing mouse colonies, conducting in vivo tumor studies, and contributing to translational cancer research. The position is ideal for candidates with a strong background in molecular or cellular biology, cancer research, and hands-on experience with animal models and advanced laboratory techniques.
What you'll do
- Manage and maintain transgenic and GD3S knockout mouse colonies for cancer research studies.
- Conduct in vivo tumor growth experiments and analyze results using advanced imaging and molecular techniques.
- Perform cell-based cytotoxicity assays, including flow cytometry and IncuCyte assays.
- Carry out molecular assays such as qRT-PCR, western blotting, and ELISA to study biochemical processes.
- Maintain patient-derived xenograft models for translational cancer research applications.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement cancer treatment strategies.
- Present scientific findings at national and international conferences.
- Train and mentor students and junior researchers in laboratory techniques and scientific rigor.
