PhD Research Fellow in Topological Data Analysis
Fully funded PhD position developing computational methods in Topological Data Analysis for medical image analysis at the University of Bergen.
Best for:Best for candidates with a strong background in mathematics, computational science, or data analysis, interested in interdisciplinary research at the intersection of topology, algebra, and medical imaging.
Overview
The University of Bergen invites applications for a fully funded PhD position in Topological Data Analysis (TDA) within the Lie-Størmer Center. This project focuses on advancing mathematical and computational methods, particularly multiparameter persistence, to analyze complex medical data. The successful candidate will investigate computational complexity, stability, and numerical summaries of multiparameter persistence, as well as their applications in medical image analysis. The position involves active participation in the research environment of the Lie-Størmer Center and the Mathesis doctoral school, fostering collaboration between pure and computational mathematics across Norwegian universities and European research centers. The project aims to bridge theoretical work with algorithmic design, contributing to cutting-edge interdisciplinary research in data science and medicine.
