Doctoral Candidate in Ultra-low Latency Decoding of Quantum Codes
Join a pan-European doctoral network to develop high-speed decoding algorithms for fault-tolerant quantum computing.
Best for:Best for researchers with a strong background in communication engineering, coding theory, or quantum information seeking to specialize in quantum error correction.
Overview
The Communications Engineering Lab at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology is seeking a doctoral candidate to join the QuBriC European Doctoral Training Network. This research position focuses on designing ultra-low latency, parallelized decoding algorithms for quantum error correction to enable scalable fault-tolerant quantum computing. The successful candidate will work at the intersection of classical and quantum information theory, collaborating with a diverse consortium of academic and industrial partners. The role involves developing novel decoding schemes, benchmarking them against state-of-the-art methods, and participating in network-wide training and secondments.
What you'll do
- Develop ultra-low latency parallelized decoding algorithms for quantum error correction codes.
- Extend belief propagation and neural decoders to ensemble-decoding frameworks for qLDPC codes.
- Design new ensemble decoding schemes based on the mathematical properties of quantum codes.
- Benchmark developed decoders against state-of-the-art methods under hardware constraints.
- Conduct high-quality research and communicate findings through publications and international conference presentations.
- Participate in network-wide training schools, workshops, and mandatory secondments at partner institutions.
- Engage in outreach and dissemination activities to promote quantum computing research.
