Overview

The University of Exeter is offering a PhD studentship focused on the development of sustainable, multifunctional protective coatings for porous construction materials like concrete, brick, and wood. The project aims to replace harmful PFAS-based treatments with eco-friendly alternatives by integrating 2D materials such as graphene. The successful candidate will conduct research involving the synthesis of 2D materials, the optimization of coating formulations, and rigorous performance testing. This research addresses critical challenges in building durability, occupant health, and environmental sustainability. The student will be based at the Streatham Campus in Exeter.
