PhD Scholarships in Engineering of Quantum Light Sources and System Architecture
Join an international MSCA Doctoral Network to advance photonic quantum computing through solid-state light source development.
Best for:Best for candidates with a strong background in photonics, quantum optics, or nanofabrication seeking to contribute to distributed quantum computing.
Overview
The Quantum Light Sources Group at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) is offering multiple PhD scholarships focused on the design, simulation, and characterization of quantum-dot-based single-photon sources. These positions are part of the EU Horizon Europe MSCA Doctoral Network 'PHOTONIQC,' which involves 15 PhD students across seven countries working on distributed photonic quantum computing. Successful candidates will engage in advanced nanofabrication, optical simulation, and system architecture design to improve photon indistinguishability and efficiency. The role requires close collaboration with international partners, participation in training schools, and the supervision of junior students. Applicants will work in a highly collaborative, research-intensive environment at DTU Electro.
What you'll do
- Design and numerically simulate quantum-dot-based single-photon sources using advanced optical tools.
- Perform nanofabrication of quantum devices within cleanroom facilities, including lithography and etching.
- Conduct optical characterization of devices to measure purity, efficiency, and photon indistinguishability.
- Develop network architecture blueprints for photonic graph state computation.
- Supervise and mentor BSc and MSc project students.
- Document research findings through scientific articles and conference presentations.
- Participate in international secondments and network-wide training schools and workshops.
