Research Assistant in Developmental Biology and Quantitative Imaging
Join the Chatzeli group at UCL GOS ICH to investigate organ growth and branching morphogenesis using interdisciplinary approaches.
Best for:Best for biomedical or life sciences graduates with hands-on lab experience, particularly in organoid culture, imaging, and computational analysis, seeking a role in developmental biology research.
Overview
This Research Assistant position at the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health (GOS ICH) offers an opportunity to contribute to a Wellcome Trust-funded project exploring how branching morphogenesis scales across species. The role involves hands-on work with mouse and human salivary gland development, organoid culture, advanced microscopy, and computational analysis of transcriptomic datasets. Based in London, the position is ideal for candidates with a strong background in biomedical or life sciences, practical lab experience, and an interest in interdisciplinary research at the intersection of developmental biology, quantitative imaging, and computational analysis. The two-year fixed-term role provides a salary of £39,807 per annum and is designed for individuals eager to support cutting-edge research in a collaborative lab environment.
What you'll do
- Establish and maintain organoid and whole organ cultures using mouse and human developing salivary glands.
- Perform advanced microscopy to image whole organs and support quantitative analysis of branching behavior.
- Assist with computational analysis of transcriptomic datasets to uncover growth and patterning mechanisms.
- Support day-to-day laboratory operations, including animal maintenance and experimental workflows.
- Collaborate closely with PhD students, postdocs, and external collaborators to ensure smooth lab functioning.
- Contribute to the analysis and interpretation of experimental data in a multidisciplinary research environment.
