PhD Studentship: Protein Glycosylation in Bacteria Colonisation and Gut Adaptation
Investigate how bacterial protein glycosylation influences gut colonisation and adaptation using advanced in vitro and in vivo models.
Best for:Best for life sciences graduates with a strong background in molecular microbiology, biochemistry, or molecular biology seeking structured PhD training.
Overview
This four-year PhD studentship is hosted at the Quadram Institute Bioscience as part of the Norwich Research Park Biosciences Doctoral Training Partnership. The successful candidate will explore the functional role of serine-rich repeat protein glycosylation in gut commensal bacteria such as Limosilactobacillus reuteri. The project employs cutting-edge methodologies, including organ-on-chip technology, mouse models, molecular microbiology, and bioinformatics. The appointed student will benefit from multidisciplinary supervision, extensive international collaborations, and a comprehensive professional development curriculum.
What you'll do
- Investigate the role of serine-rich repeat protein glycosylation in bacterial biofilm formation and gut colonisation.
- Utilize in vitro and in vivo experimental approaches, including organ-on-chip technology and mouse models.
