Overview

The Institute of Physics II at the University of Cologne invites applications for a part-time PhD student position within the Bocquillon Working Group. The research focuses on designing an ultra-sensitive quantum calorimeter to investigate heat flow mechanisms in layered crystals and quantum Hall devices, starting with alpha-RuCl3. The successful candidate will collaborate with international partners, notably at the University of Tokyo, while pursuing a doctoral degree in experimental physics. The position is offered for a fixed term starting in January 2027.
