Overview

This PhD position at AMOLF focuses on investigating how phase transitions in materials can be leveraged for advanced optical information processing. The project aims to quantify the trade-offs between energy efficiency, speed, and accuracy in processing signals near phase transitions, building on recent breakthroughs in nonlinear optics. The candidate will conduct experimental work involving optical cavity measurements, materials characterization, and nanofabrication, complemented by theoretical modeling and simulations. The research is collaborative between AMOLF and Utrecht University, offering a unique opportunity to work across two leading research groups in the Netherlands.
