PhD Studentship: Theory of Topological Quantum Many-Body Systems
Explore theoretical topological physics, quantum many-body systems, and quantum simulation with ultracold atoms.
Best for:Best for physics graduates with a strong interest in condensed-matter theory, AMO physics, or quantum information.
Overview
This PhD studentship explores theoretical questions at the intersection of topological physics, quantum many-body systems, and quantum simulation using ultracold atoms. Hosted by the University of Birmingham's School of Physics and Astronomy, the project investigates how topology and quantum geometry interact with nonlinear dynamics and dissipation. The research contributes directly to ongoing optical lattice experiments and aligns with a broader EPSRC-funded Programme Grant in quantitative quantum simulation. The successful candidate will apply analytical calculations and computational methods to uncover new quantum phenomena.
