MSCA PhD Position in Hybrid Nanoparticles for Biopharmaceutical Delivery
Join an MSCA Doctoral Network to design advanced hybrid nanoparticle carriers for targeted biopharmaceutical delivery.
Best for:Best for master's graduates in chemistry, physics, or pharmaceutical technology with a strong background in nanomaterials synthesis and characterization.
Overview
This 3-year doctoral position is part of the Horizon Europe Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Doctoral Network IDEAS, focusing on the development of hybrid nanoparticles for enhanced biopharmaceutical delivery. The successful candidate will design, synthesize, and characterize mesoporous silica nanoparticles and polymer microparticles to improve the stability and controlled release of sensitive biomolecules. The research involves collaborative work across the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in Spain and the Universidade de Lisboa in Portugal, including a secondment at Linari Engineering in Italy. The candidate is expected to execute independent research, participate in network training activities, undertake doctoral coursework, and publish scientific findings.
What you'll do
- Manage and carry out an individual doctoral research project focused on hybrid nanoparticle delivery systems.
- Synthesize mesoporous silica nanoparticles and amorphous polymer microparticles using co-condensation, electrospinning, and electrospraying techniques.
- Perform comprehensive physicochemical characterization using techniques such as TEM, SEM, DLS, NMR, FTIR, and BET surface analysis.
- Evaluate biopharmaceutical loading, stability, aggregation resistance, and release kinetics under biorelevant conditions.
- Participate in joint IDEAS training programs, network activities, and international scientific conferences.
- Complete secondments at partner academic and industrial laboratories, including Linari Engineering in Italy.
- Contribute to undergraduate student teaching and write scientific articles leading to a PhD thesis.
